Planetarium

The planetarium serves the DCSC and surrounding school corporations by providing educational opportunities in Astronomy. The DCHS Planetarium is the home base for the DCHS Astronomy Club and provides programming for all DCSC grade levels from Preschool–to 12th grade. Additionally, programming for DCCS Special Services, The planetarium started with a 1971 Apollo-Eros star machine and 5.5 meter dome. The original planetarium dome was redone in 2020 and star machine was replaced during the 2019-2020 school year. The planetarium now has a Digitarium Zeta Fixed Dome .

Thank you for your interest in visiting our planetarium at DCHS with your group. Our planetarium is open Monday - Friday from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. Our facility currently has 40 seats available per session. Please contact our Planetarium Director Mike Burdsall at mburdsall@danville.k12.in.us

Admission Fee

There is an admission fee of $4 per person per show for groups of up to 40 visiting the planetarium. DCSC will send out an invoice that can be paid as soon as possible.

The planetarium has 33 permanent seats and 7 temporary seats.

Location of the Planetarium

The planetarium is located in Danville Community High School, 100 Warrior Way, Danville IN 46122. Enter Door 17.

Community Shows

DCHS Planetarium has periodic evening shows open to the public. Our most popular show “Finding the Star of Bethlehem” occurs in December. Shows will be announced through DCSC social media accounts.

Planetarium Rules

Group members visiting the planetarium are expected to:

  1. Listen quietly to the program.
  2. Respect the planetarium and school facilities and refrain from placing feet on the seats.
  3. Refrain from bringing food, candy, or chewing gum into the planetarium.
  4. A disruptive audience member will be asked to leave and may not be allowed back in.
